Course description

The person credited with this unit standard is able to understand the objectives and statutory requirements pertaining to health and safety in the workplace.

The learners will be able to explain the rights, powers, functions and duties of the workplace health and safety representative and how any errant health, safety and environmental issues may be handled. Learners will also be able to participate in the safety, health and environmental structures and measure these activities according to health, safety and environmental requirements.

Course Overview

The person credited with this unit standard is able to understand the objectives and statutory requirements pertaining to health and safety in the workplace.

The learners will be able to explain the rights, powers, functions and duties of the workplace health and safety representative and how any errant health, safety and environmental issues may be handled. Learners will also be able to participate in the safety, health and environmental structures and measure these activities according to health, safety and environmental requirements.

This course has been divided into 7 sections, to be completed sequentially.

At the end of each section, there will be a short formative assessment to further highlight the important aspects of the section. To move on after each formative assessment, you are required to achieve 100%.

Every 45 minutes, you will be prompted to take a short break. In the event that you are in the middle of a section, first complete it.

Once all sections have been completed, you will need to complete a summative assessment.
